14 Plank Variations for a Strong Core (Back and Abs)

Situps and crunches aren’t the only way to work out your core.  As a matter of fact, they probably aren’t the best way to work out your core either.  Planks are a great alternative for a great core workout because it not only targets your abs, but it also targets your back muscles.  Here are 14 plank variations (in gif) format that you can try out.  The slower you go, the more of a workout you’ll get.  Try holding each position for at least a minute when you get to it.  If you are unable to get up to a minute, try to hold each position for at least 30 seconds.

Note: Remember it is important to keep a straight back during planks.  That is how you are going to work out your core.  If your core is shaking, that means it is working!
